I have been thinking a lot lately about all of the changes that have taken place in our parenting between our first and our third children. I thought I would make a list of  “for examples.” This list is not complete, but I am tired of keeping it in my head. Maybe I’ll be able to come back and add more later. I’d love to hear anyone else’s experiences.

1st child: new changing table neatly stocked with changing supplies – changed all diapers here
2nd child: supplies taken from changing table to other room for diaper changes – used changing pad
3rd child: diapers and wipes located in every room – use a blanket if available

1st child: kept a toy box in living room to store toys in one location.
2nd child: kept a toy box in living room, but is still full of first child’s toys. Additional toys are stored in various locations throughout the living room.
3rd child: keep a box in living room to store our things in one location so they don’t get confused with toys.

1st child: Had many cute outfits hanging neatly in closet
2nd child: Had many cute outfits folded neatly in drawers
3rd child: Have many cute outfits in laundry basket in living room

1st child: Took pictures and video of daily events
2nd child: Took pictures and video of big events
3rd child: Took one picture – will Photoshop into pictures later

1st child: Sneaked into room to make sure she was still breathing.
2nd child: Listened intently at baby monitor to make sure she was still breathing.
3rd child: Turned baby monitor off. Assume that he is still breathing.

1st child: Kept in car seat at church to keep people from holding her
2nd child: Allowed only certain people at church to hold her
3rd child: Walk in the door at church and hand him to first person who makes eye contact

1st child: Used special laundry detergent specially formulated for baby clothes
2nd child: Used regular laundry detergent, but hung clothes up to dry so they didn’t wear out
3rd child: Clothes are thrown in the dryer like everybody else’s.
